The children learn to read and write using the excellent Jolly Phonics Programme.  Our early reading programme is the acclaimed PM Reading scheme which is levelled according to the child’s ability.  Our senior pupils use the renowned Accelerated Reading Programme and spellings are taught using the new innovative Spellings for Me Programme, both of which are individualised according to each child. The children participate in the Spelling Bee competition annually to promote the love of words, vocabulary and spelling.  Reading Recovery Teacher is also provided in our school by our highly trained teacher.  We also have a whole-school approach to oral language, handwriting, grammar and the genres of writing.
